Fire protection
Intumescent paints for fire passive protection. The anti-fire barrier for iron, wood and reinforced concrete.
Intumescent paints create a thermoinsulating barrier which prevents and slows down the heating. Thanks to a self-expansion process or (intumescence), their feature is not to catch fire, withstand to flame and not to spread it.
Moreover, a thermal decomposition of the paint occurs by heating, with consequent complex chemical reactions which free vapours/gas, such vapours dilute the flammable gas present, preventing the burning process.
The use of intumescent paints, allows to maintain the underlying structures unaltered and load-bearing, permitting the intervention of the fire men in total security.
Impa has developed a line of products both for the protection of wood, iron and concrete structures. The use of intumescent paints is generally adopted when architectural structure needs to be visibile, particularly in such cases as steel and wood.
